Subclass 408

This visa caters to individuals who have a visa that is due to expire and cannot apply for any other visas. This visa was specifically designed for individuals working in critical sectors of the Australian government by way of participating in events endorsed by the Australian government. There are 9 streams. Special program, religious work, research activities, social and cultural activity, sporting activity, entertainment activity, superyacht crew, exchange arrangements and domestic work for executives.

BENEFITS

You will be able to stay in Australia for up to 4 years.
Exchange arrangements is for people who is part of a staff exchange program with an Australian organisation. Stay is up to 2 years and family members could be included in the application.
Domestic work for executive’s activity allows the individual to undertake full time domestic work for certain senior foreign executives. Stay is up to 2 years and family members could be included in the application.
Superyacht crew allows individual to work in Australia as a crew member of a superyacht. Stay is up to 12 months.
Entertainment activities permits individuals to work in the Australian entertainment and film industry. Stay is up to 2 years and family members could be included in the application.
Social and cultural activity allows an individual to participate in community based, including sporting events. Stay is up to 3 months and family members could be included in the application.

Sporting activity allows individuals to play, coach, instruct or adjudicate for an Australian team or sporting organisation. Stay is up to 2 years and family members could be included in the application.
Research activities permits the individual to take part in or observe a research project in Australia. Stay is up to 2 years and family members could be included in the application.
Religious work permits an individual to undertake full time religious work in Australia for a religious institution. Stay is up to 2 years and family members could be included in the application.
Special program allows an individual to take part in an approved special program including youth exchange, cultural enrichment, community programs, school language assistants or gap year school volunteering programs. Stay is up to 12 months and family members could be included in the application
