Subclass 101 – Child Visa

The purpose of the Child visa is to allow the child of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to migrate to or remain in Australia on a permanent basis. The child must be under 25 years old when the visa application is lodged. The minimum requirements for this visa are as follows.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

You must be dependent on your parent who is an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.
Your sponsoring parent must be at least 18 years old.
Your sponsoring parent must be an approved sponsor.
You must be under the age of 18 years old. If you are over the age of 18 years old and under 25 years old, you must fall into the category of studying full time or have a disability.
You must have been studying full time since turning 18.
You must be under the age of 25 years old at the time of decision.
You must be single.
You must never have had a partner.
You must not be working full time.
You must meet the Australian health and character requirements.
If you lodge the application from outside of Australia, you must be outside of Australia at the time of decision.
