This visa is for you if…
…you’re the family member of a person who was granted New Zealand residence because they were a refugee or protected person. You can only apply if you’re not eligible for any other kind of New Zealand resident visa, your family member registers with us to sponsor your residence application, and we select their registration from one of our Refugee Family Support Category queues.
Criteria you must meet
- You must have a family member in New Zealand who was granted residence because they were a refugee or protected person.
- Your family member must register with us to sponsor your residence application and be an eligible sponsor.
- You must be invited to apply for residence – your family member’s registration will need to be selected from one of our Refugee Family Support Category queues
How long can I stay on this visa-Indefinitely
With this visa you can...
- Live, work and study in New Zealand.
- Include your partner, and dependent children aged 24 and under, in your residence application – if they were first included in your sponsor's registration.
After this visa…
…you can apply for permanent residence after 2 years in New Zealand as a resident.
