Subclass 864 – Contributory Aged Parent Visa (Permanent)

This visa caters to aged parents of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who resides in Australia. The parent must be aged in accordance with the retirement age under the Australian Social Security Act.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

You must meet the age requirement.
You must meet the balance of family test.
Your sponsor must be approved to be your sponsor.
You must meet the Australian health and character requirements.
You must have assurance of support.
You must be in Australia at the time of application.

BENEFITS

To satisfy the balance of the family test, parents must have at least half of all their children lawfully and permanently residing in Australia. The age requirement will be gradually increased from 65 to 67 depending on the year the applicant was born.
